Xi Jinping insulting US and India by not attending G20 summit: US media

US media believe that Chinese President Xi Jinping is ignoring ‘the US and India and the Western powers supporting them’ by not attending the G20 summit being held in New Delhi, which will be attended by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be joined by more than 20 global leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The report said their absence offers a new perspective on relations between the two largest countries on earth.

According to multiple unnamed sources cited by several Western media houses, Xi is inclined not to participate. An unnamed Brussels diplomat revealed that he would not be attending and would send Premier Qiang as his replacement, which has now been confirmed as Russian President Vladimir Putin has dropped out due to pressing domestic engagements and his foreign minister Sending to Sergey Lavrov.

A section of the American media said that most people around the Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the event, would face challenges in moving around due to the arrival of the world leaders.

The report said, this can only mean that Indian security officials had asked various countries to reduce their convoys.

The G20, comprising 19 countries and the European Union, meets annually and the presidency rotates every year, with 2023 being held by India. China hosted the event for the first and last time in 2016 in the city of Hangzhou in eastern Zhejiang province.

The first G20 was held in 2008 in Washington. The G20 is a body of developed and developing countries that addresses major global economic issues and organizes discussions on political and economic issues leading developing countries to an organized global geopolitical and economic order.
