Uttarkashi tunnel | 4 ambulances stationed at Silkyara Tunnel site, over 35 more expected to arrive soon

Rescue operation is going on to take out Phase 41 workers from the tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. 11 days have passed since the workers were trapped in the tunnel. The auger machine has so far drilled up to 32 meters to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel. Pipes of 800 mm diameter have been inserted in it. A total of 60 meters of pipes have to be drilled and laid. Rescue teams have called 40 ambulances. Emergency service 108 has been put on alert. The rescue operation is likely to end by tomorrow.

They were demanding salt for the last four-five days. Salt was also sent and roti, vegetables and pulao have been sent for dinner.

Rescue operation is going on for 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel. Six agencies of the Center and the State are working continuously. To establish coordination between these agencies, Uttarakhand’s IAS Neeraj Khairwal has been made the nodal officer. Additional Secretary, Road and Transport Mahmood Ahmed and NHIDCL Tunnel Project Director Khalko held a press conference and gave the latest information to the media on the Uttarkashi tunnel accident.

He said that NHIDCL has first ensured the facilities of oxygen supply, food, water and medicine. There is light and electricity supply inside. There is space up to 2 kilometers inside the tunnel. Dry fruits and other food items were being sent to them through a 4-inch pipeline. But now communication has been established with them by sending a walkie-talkie through a 6-inch pipeline.

“We have also obtained a video in which all the laborers are seen to be mentally and physically healthy. We have mobilized multiple agencies and are coordinating with them. Each agency has been assigned a specific task,” officials said. Our team is monitoring everything, so that there is coordination between all the agencies. We are taking every possible contribution from the Army, BRO and other agencies. The district administration is cooperating with us. NDRF and SDRF are also working. Are.”

On the morning of 12th November, the day of Diwali, debris suddenly fell from above in the tunnel, due to which 41 laborers working in night shift in the other part of the 4 km long under-construction tunnel got trapped. Efforts are being made to rescue them by removing the debris. Rescue operation is going on for 10 days to rescue the workers. Tunnel expert Arnold Dix has also been called, who is engaged in the rescue operation with his team, but no success has been achieved so far.
