Uttarakhand | The burden of school bags will reduce from the new academic session

Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat has instructed the departmental officers to prepare the proposal related to this soon and make it available to the government. It will be the responsibility of the Chief Education Officers to ensure compliance with the orders regarding reducing the burden of school bags.

Now the state government seems to be worried about reducing the increasing burden of school bags of school children in Uttarakhand. This is the reason why the state government is soon going to issue new guidelines to reduce the burden of these children’s bags.

Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat has instructed the departmental officers to prepare the proposal related to this soon and make it available to the government. It will be the responsibility of the Chief Education Officers to ensure compliance with the orders regarding reducing the burden of school bags. Besides this, the benefit of maternity leave will also be given to temporary teachers working on contract and fixed pay scales posted in various schools of the state.

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat held a meeting with officials of various boards running in the state regarding the burden of school children in the Directorate General of School Education. It was decided that in accordance with the New Education Policy-2020 and the guidelines of the Government of India, the burden of school bags of school children in all the schools of the state will be reduced and kept as per the prescribed standards. For this, SCERT Uttarakhand officials have been instructed to prepare a proposal and send it to the government.

After the guidelines are issued from the government, the new system will be implemented from the coming session itself, the responsibility for the implementation of which will be of the Chief Education Officers.

Till January 26, 2024, a public awareness campaign will be conducted by organizing meetings with private school operators, managers, principals and parents at the district and state level in the entire state.

School Education Minister Dr. Rawat said that private schools from class 1 to 12 are being run in the state under ICSE, CBSE, Uttarakhand Board, and Indian Education Board, in which the burden of the bags of the children studying is more than their capacity. It is many times more and a recommendation to reduce it has also been made in the New Education Policy-2020. The orders regarding reducing the burden of school bags will be strictly followed in the state from the coming academic session itself.

Dr. Rawat said that contract and temporary teachers working in various schools of the state will also be given maternity leave like other employees. In this regard, orders will be issued to the Chief Education Officers of all the districts from the departmental level.
