Once again a shameful incident has come to light in Uttar Pradesh. A rape victim tried to commit suicide during a grievance redressal program in Meerut. A senior official has given this information. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohit Singh Sajwan said the woman and her family brought inflammable substances with them to the ‘Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas’ in Sardhana and demanded the arrest of the accused in the rape case.

He said that the police took away the inflammable substance from the family and they were assured of appropriate action in the matter. According to Sarurpur police, the incident happened about six months ago, when the woman, who was a minor at that time, had filed a rape case against a man from her village. The police have also been accused of negligence in this matter.

Earlier, a complaint was registered in the case and during investigation it was claimed that the accused was not present in the area at the time of the incident. SSP said, he was in Punjab. SDM Pankaj Prakash Rathore said that the matter is related to Sarurpur police station and instructions have been given to the concerned police officers to take immediate action in this matter.
