Two IAF pilots killed in Pilatus trainer aircraft crash in Hyderabad

The Pilatus PC 7 Mk II trainer aircraft had taken off from the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad in the morning for a routine training sortie. Air Force officials said that of the two pilots, one was an instructor and the other a trainee.

An Indian Air Force (IAF) training aircraft crashed near Toopran in Medak district, about 60 km from Hyderabad, on Monday morning, killing two pilots.

The Pilatus PC 7 Mk II trainer aircraft had taken off from the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad in the morning for a routine training sortie. Air Force officials said that of the two pilots, one was an instructor and the other a trainee.

“It is with great regret that the LAF confirms that both pilots on board the aircraft have died,” the IAF said in a statement. There is no damage to any civilian life or property.”

It said a court of inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the accident.

The plane crashed among the rocks and was completely destroyed in the fire.

The incident happened around 8.30 am on Monday. Local people reached the accident site and informed the police.
