After this the Supreme Court gave him relief. The Lok Sabha Secretariat had reinstated Gandhi’s membership after the Supreme Court on August 4 stayed his conviction in a case related to a comment on his ‘Modi’ nickname.

It is noteworthy that in 2019, BJP leader Purnesh Modi had made a complaint against Gandhi on his “How is Modi the common surname of all thieves?” A criminal defamation case was filed against him.
