In fact, on January 1, four people died after being shot by unknown assailants in Lilong Chingjao area of Thoubal district. The situation in the area remained calm but tense on Tuesday (January 2), the second day of the incident. In view of security, additional security forces have been deployed in Lilong Chingjao. The Congress leader said, “A joint delegation of leaders of all the parties of Manipur had come to Delhi and sought time to meet the Prime Minister, but till date he has not given the time. Neither did he go to Manipur, nor talked about Manipur, nor replied in Parliament, nor took any action.
He asked whether this is the leadership that Manipur needs or the power of advertisements is enough to declare it great. Priyanka further said that the government should now, without any delay, start taking concrete steps to bring stability and peace by talking to all the stakeholders of Manipur, taking them into confidence.
Let us tell you that on Monday, the very first day of 2024, four villagers were shot dead by unknown assailants in the minority dominated Lilong Chingjao area of Thoubal district of Manipur. Meanwhile, two other seriously injured persons are admitted in ICU in Imphal hospital.
According to the information given by the local administration, unknown gunmen in uniform had come on the night of January 1 to collect money from a person. There was a dispute during this period. He said that when the local people were chasing them away, the gunmen started firing indiscriminately, resulting in several casualties.
