Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Lepcha, a remote and strategic area of Himachal Pradesh near the India-China border. While sharing his pictures with the soldiers on Instagram, PM Modi wrote, “Lepchas of Himachal Pradesh reached to celebrate Diwali with their brave security forces.”
The Prime Minister, dressed in olive green, interacted with the soldiers. Since 2014, PM Modi has been following his tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers. He last celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Himachal Pradesh on 30 October 2016.
Lepcha Falls is in Lahaul-Spiti district, which is spread over 13,835 square km. The climatic conditions in the district are harsh, as most of the land falls under cold desert, where the mercury drops below minus 20 degrees Celsius during winter.

In 2018 the Prime Minister celebrated Diwali with army personnel in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, while in 2019 he visited Rajouri, Jammu, in 2020 he celebrated Diwali in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan; In 2021 he celebrated Diwali in Nowshera, Jammu and Kashmir and last year during Diwali he spent time with Indian Army soldiers in Kargil.
