Several demands including investigation of violence in mahapanchayat by NIA, arms license to Hindus living in Nuh, declaring Nuh as cow slaughter free district, transfer of FIR registered in the district to Gurugram, permanent deployment of security forces were also made.

Following the violent clashes in Haryana’s Nuh and Gurugram earlier this month, a Hindu group Sarva Hindu Samaj today convened a mahapanchayat in Haryana’s Palwal, demanding resumption of Vishva Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Brajmandal Jalabhishek Yatra on August 28. The decision was taken. Hundreds of people from many nearby villages had gathered in the mahapanchayat, in view of which the police had made elaborate security arrangements.
A mahapanchayat was convened by the Sarva Hindu Samaj at Pondari village in Palwal to discuss the resumption of Vishva Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Jalabhishek Yatra, which was attended by Khaps, religious leaders and members of Hindu bodies from Haryana. In the mahapanchayat, it was decided to resume the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra at Nuh on August 28. The panchayat took place amid heavy security deployment in Pondari village of Palwal.
In Nuh on July 31, six people were killed and several others injured in communal clashes triggered by the yatra. The mahapanchayat also demanded an impartial probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the communal violence and integration of Muslim-majority Nuh district with other districts of Haryana. He demanded Rs one crore as compensation for the family members of the deceased and government jobs and Rs 50 lakh for those injured in the Nuh riots. The second demand was that the Rohingyas living in Nuh and the people of any other country should be removed.
Along with this, the mahapanchayat also demanded arms license for Hindus living in Nuh for self-defense, declaring Nuh as a cow slaughter free district, transfer of FIR registered in the district to Gurugram, permanent deployment of security forces- RAF or police there . An inquiry was also sought against former Nuh SP Varun Singla who was on leave despite intelligence inputs of possible violence. He also demanded recovery of damages caused to shops and houses of Hindus from those involved in the riots.
Gurugram VHP president Ajit Singh said, “We have decided that the yatra will resume on August 28 as planned. People from across the state will take out a procession and assemble at the Nalhar temple for a similar yatra till the Shringar temple. to join the yatra, which was earlier disrupted by the mob.”
Bajrang Dal leader Kulbhushan Bhardwaj said, “Strict action is needed against those involved in this conspiracy. In today’s mahapanchayat, resumption of yatra, NIA probe, compensation for victims, arms license for Hindus living in Nuh Several decisions have been taken including. Such violence will not be tolerated anymore.
Senior VHP leader Arun Zaildar said, “As per the demand of our Hindu brothers, we have decided to resume the Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh on August 28. It was our religious procession and it will be completed as per the plan. We demand a fair probe into the entire incident and those found guilty should be punished.”
The mahapanchayat was attended by several Khaps, VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders from Haryana, present and former MLAs from Sohna, Nuh BJP president Narendra Patel, Arun Zeildar and senior VHP leader Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, among others. Despite the permission for only 500 people in the mahapanchayat, many more people gathered. In view of the mahapanchayat, the police, along with tightening the security, had banned the entry of outsiders into the village. Several companies of paramilitary forces along with police patrolled the area from 9 am to 4 pm.
This mahapanchayat was earlier going to be held in Nuh itself, but due to security reasons, the Nuh administration rejected it and did not allow any kind of panchayat. However, later the Palwal administration gave conditional permission for the gathering of around 500 people for the mahapanchayat. The administration also said that strict action will be taken if anyone gives any kind of hate speech.
