Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi has been taken into custody in Mumbai. He himself has given information about this by tweeting. Tushar Gandhi said that he had gone out to celebrate the anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’, but was taken into custody by the Santa Cruz police. He said in his tweet, “Today on August 9, when I went out to go to August Kranti Maidan on August Kranti Day, the police caught me and brought me to Santacruz police station and detained me. #Modi_hai_to_mumkeen_hai.”
In another tweet, he said, “For the first time in the history of independent India, I have been detained at Santa Cruz police station as I left home to celebrate Quit India Day on 9th August. I am proud that my great grandfather Bapu and Ba were also arrested by the British police on the historic date.”
Tushar Gandhi further wrote, “As soon as I am allowed to leave from the police station, I will leave for August Kranti Maidan. Will definitely remember August Revolution Day and its martyrs.
However, later the police released them. Tushar Gandhi wrote in another tweet, now being allowed to go. Will leave for August Kranti Maidan. Inquilab Zindabad!
Tushar Gandhi has tweeted one after the other. After being released by the police, he wrote in another tweet, “Fear is so pervasive in our society that I boarded a rickshaw at the Santa Cruz police station after I was allowed to leave. When we reached Bandra, I asked an old Muslim taxi driver to take me to August Kranti Maidan, he saw the police car and nervously told me that sir, I should not get trapped. I tried my best to convince the driver.”
