Last night, Naxalites attacked a railway construction site in McCluskieganj in Ranchi district. They set on fire three vehicles and a generator engaged in construction work.
Naxalites also fired several rounds in the air. It was told that late on Monday evening, about a dozen armed criminals reached the site of bridge construction being done by the Railways near Chatto River in McCluskieganj, 70 km from Ranchi, and started firing in the air. Frightened by this, the workers and other workers present there ran away.
After this the Naxalites set fire to a dumper, a Poklane machine, an SUV and a generator. The agency carrying out the construction work has suffered huge losses. After getting information about the incident, police reached the spot.
Official sources of Railways said that the third rail line is being constructed between Patratu to Sonnagar to increase the facility of coal supply at NTPC’s Super Thermal Power Station located at Tandwa, Chatra and to prepare a Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation feeder line. The contract for the construction work is of KEC International Company.

This is the second attack on a railway site in Jharkhand within this month. Earlier on September 1, banned organization PLFI had attacked the railway construction site near Kanarwa railway station in Simdega district and set a Poklane machine on fire.
On August 23, Naxalites had also attacked a road construction site in Palamu and torched eight vehicles. Similarly, in the month of May, a Poklane machine was attacked and set on fire at the construction site of Shivpur-Kathautiya railway line in Tandwa police station area of Chatra.
Earlier, Railway Railway Development Corporation Limited, Ranchi had recently written a letter to the Home Department of the State Government requesting for security on the continuous incidents of attacks. Mentioning some such incidents in the letter, it was said that due to this many railway projects are being disrupted.
