Manipur Violence: Another bad news, 27 people including two journalists missing

Some of the 27 people are missing from May, some from June and the rest from July and they are residents of Imphal West, Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Kakching districts.

Disturbing news continues to pour in from Manipur. At least 27 non-tribal people, including two journalists, two minors and two women, are missing in violence-hit Manipur. The two missing local media journalists are Atom Samarendra Singh, 47, and Yumkhaibam Kirankumar Singh, 48.

Some of the 27 people are missing from May, some from June and the rest from July and they are residents of Imphal West, Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Kakching districts. Missing cases have been registered in various police stations. The age of the missing people is between 17 years to 47 years.

Violence broke out in Manipur on May 3 during the ‘Tribal Unity March’ taken out by the Kuki community. During this there was a violent clash between Kuki and Meitei community. Since then the situation there has remained tense.
