Manipur | 3 Kuki-Zo tribals shot dead in fresh violence

Officials in Manipur’s capital Imphal said armed militants attacked villages between Ireng and Karam in the border areas of Imphal West and Kangpopki districts and shot dead three villagers on the spot.

Officials in Manipur’s capital Imphal said armed militants attacked villages between Ireng and Karam in the border areas of Imphal West and Kangpopki districts and shot dead three villagers on the spot. The extremists came to the tribal dominated villages in a vehicle early in the morning and left before the security forces arrived.

Earlier on September 8 and 9, three people were also killed in a clash with security forces and firing between terrorists in Pallel of Tengnoupal district.

Officials said the attackers came in a vehicle and attacked the villagers between Ireng and Karam areas located on the border areas of Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts. This village is situated in the mountains and is dominated by tribal people. There have been continuous clashes between the majority Meitei and tribal Kuki communities in Manipur since May 3 this year and more than 160 people have been killed so far.

Let us tell you that violence has been going on between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur since May, in which hundreds of people have lost their lives and thousands have also been rendered homeless. The opposition is continuously attacking the Modi government on this issue. There was a lot of uproar on this issue in Parliament also. A no-confidence motion was brought against the Modi government on this issue by the opposition and ultimately PM Modi had to answer on this.
