Lightning havoc in Odisha, 12 people died in a day, 11 injured, IMD issued heavy rain alert

Lightning havoc has been witnessed in Odisha. In a single day, 12 people have died due to lightning, while 11 people have been admitted to hospitals in critical condition. The dead include people from Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts.

Heavy rains are continuing in Odisha for the last several days. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the next three days, which means that there will be no respite from the rain. Orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in Odisha today.

The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in eastern and adjoining central India on Saturday and in the northeast on August 21. Light to moderate scattered to heavy rain is forecast over East India. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there may be heavy rains in Odisha till Saturday.
