Karnataka | One died in Kongrahalli village due to bee sting, 14 hospitalised

One person died and 14 others were admitted to hospital after they were attacked by forest bees during the cremation of a dead body in Kongarahalli village in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district. Officials gave this information on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Chenappa, 60, a resident of the village. The injured were admitted to Holy Cross Hospital. The condition of one of them is critical.

According to the police, the incident took place during the funeral of a woman late on Sunday evening. As soon as the pyre was lit, a swarm of forest bees attacked the people gathered for the last rites.

There was a hive of bees near the cremation site and the bees attacked the people gathered for the cremation. After the attack people started running here and there. During this, Chenappa suffered serious injuries and died on the way to the hospital.
