इजरायल-गाज़ा जंग के बीच युद्धविराम को लेकर अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति बाइडेन बोले…
US President Joe Biden has rejected growing calls at home and abroad for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying it will be used by Hamas to regroup and maintain its dominance. At the same time, he called for an end to the ongoing violence by Jewish extremists against Palestinians in the West Bank and threatened that the US could impose sanctions on those responsible.
In an oped in The Washington Post on Saturday, the president compared the Israel-Hamas war to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Regarding rising anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in the United States, he said that in recent years “hate has been given a lot of oxygen.”
With the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepening as a result of Israel’s ongoing military operations in response to the October 7 terrorist attacks by Hamas, the President faces increasing pressure from within his own Democratic Party for a ceasefire. “A ceasefire is not possible as long as Hamas continues its ideology of destruction,” Biden wrote. “Hamas members will use the ceasefire to rebuild their stockpile of rockets, reposition fighters and attack innocents again.
Biden has offered Israel unwavering support against Hamas, but he himself has called on Israel not to ignore international rules and laws. “In the coming months, the United States will increase its efforts to establish a more peaceful, unified, and prosperous Middle East,” he wrote.
Biden wrote, “I continue to emphasize to Israeli leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and those who commit violence must be held accountable.”
