The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Northeast India, Bihar and Uttarakhand during the next five days. Whereas, light rain activity is expected over the remaining parts. IMD in its bulletin said that the weather forecast indicates the possibility of light to moderate, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over northwest India.
This pattern is expected to continue from Tuesday to Saturday. There are high chances of heavy rains over the region of Uttarakhand during this period. These conditions are also expected in the areas of East Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and Saturday. A similar forecast is for West Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Very heavy rainfall can be seen on Wednesday and Thursday especially over the region of Uttarakhand.
On the contrary, relatively less rain is expected in other parts of North West India in the coming week. Light to moderate, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is forecast over East India. According to IMD, this weather pattern is expected to continue till Thursday. Areas like Bihar may see heavy rainfall during this time frame. Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also expected to see similar weather on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The expected weather pattern over Northeast India is light to moderate and fairly widespread to widespread rainfall. IMD said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in areas like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the next five days. The level of rainfall activity is expected to reduce in the coming week over Central, West and South India. The forecast suggests that these areas will receive minimum rainfall over the next seven days.
