As per the 6 am reading, the current PM2.5 level in Mumbai was 2.9 times more than the recommended limit of the World Health Organization (WHO) 24-hour air quality guidelines.

In many areas, Diwali celebrators started burning all types of firecrackers from Sunday evening itself and continued till the early hours of Monday.
Some of the most affected areas of the city with ‘poor’ AQI include Deonar (157), Bandra East (155), Nerul and Powai (151 each), Bandra Kurla Complex (139), Sion (134), Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (127 each), Juhu (124), Vile Parle West (122), Mahape and Siddharth Nagar of Worli (112 each), Bhandup West and Bandra West (107 each), and Malad (105), Borivali East.
