Abdul Mafid Sheikh, husband of Mafiza Khatoon, one of the three deceased in the accident, has lodged an FIR. There is a lot of anger among the families of the victims and the local people regarding this incident.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways officials contacted the victim’s family members who were demanding compensation for the tragedy. Railway officials have asked him for necessary documents to approve the compensation. Officials said the compensation process would be started only after receiving the documents.

After this accident, many questions are being raised regarding the lack of maintenance of the infrastructure built in the station premises. Earlier this year, another similar incident had taken place at Burdwan railway station. Here two people were seriously injured when the balcony of an old station building collapsed.
