Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and his son are not part of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections. The voter list for the federation elections has been announced.

In a meeting with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur last month, the wrestlers – Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat – demanded that no one from Brij Bhushan’s family should be allowed to contest elections.

They were also promised a stake in deciding who would occupy the key positions of president, general secretary and treasurer.

However, Brij Bhushan said that it was his own decision to keep his family out of wrestling elections. “I don’t want any more controversy regarding myself and my family.”

Of his three family members, only his son-in-law Vishal Singh is in the electoral college, which was finalized on Tuesday. Another son-in-law, former Joint Secretary, Aditya Pratap Singh is also missing from the list. As per reports, the electoral college has a total of 50 members from 25 state units.
