As per the report, Mayawati-led BSP is the only national party to show a decrease in its annual declared assets. BSP’s total assets were Rs 732.79 crore in 2020-21, which declined by 5.74 per cent to Rs 690.71 crore in FY 2021-22.

According to the report of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), there has been a huge jump in the wealth of 8 major national parties of the country during the financial year 2021-22. The total assets of these political parties have increased to Rs 8829.158 crore in the financial year 2021-22, with the highest assets declared by BJP at Rs 6,046.81 crore.
According to the ADR report, “The total assets declared by 8 national parties during the financial year 2020-21 was Rs 7,297.61 crore, which increased to Rs 8,829.15 crore in the financial year 2021-22.” According to the report, BJP’s declared assets during FY 2020-21 totaled Rs 4,990.19 crore, which increased by 21.17 per cent to Rs 6,046.81 crore in FY 2021-22.
At the same time, the total declared assets of Congress during 2020-21 were Rs 691.11 crore, which increased by 16.58 percent to Rs 805.68 crore during 2021-22. The report states that TMC’s assets were Rs 182.001 crore in the year 2020-21, which increased by 151.70 percent to Rs 458.10 crore in 2021-22. The fastest jump has been seen in the property of TMC itself.
The latest report analyzes the assets and liabilities declared by 8 national parties BJP, Congress, NCP, BSP, CPI, CPI (M), AITC and NPP for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22. As per the report, Mayawati-led BSP is the only national party to show a decrease in its annual declared assets. The total assets of BSP were Rs 732.79 crore in 2020-21, which declined by 5.74 percent to Rs 690.71 crore in FY 2021-22.
According to the report, the assets of Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) also increased to Rs 74.54 crore in the financial year 2021-22 as compared to Rs 30.93 crore. Whereas, the assets of CPI increased from Rs 14.05 crore in FY 2020-21 to Rs 15.72 crore in FY 2021-22. The assets of CPM were Rs 654.79 crore in the financial year 2020-21, which has increased to Rs 735.77 crore in the financial year 2021-22.
ADR has also mentioned the liability of these national parties in the report. According to the report, all these 8 parties had a liability of Rs 103.555 crore in 2020-21, of which the Congress owed the maximum Rs 71.58 crore. After this, CPM had a liability of Rs 16.109 crore. According to the report, in the financial year 2021-22, the liability of Congress has come down to Rs 41.95 crore, the liability of CPM has come down to Rs 12.21 crore. Whereas, BJP has declared a liability of Rs 5.17 crore.
The report states that between the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22, five parties have announced reduction in liabilities. Congress’s liability decreased by Rs 29.63 crore. Whereas BJP’s liability decreased by Rs 6.035 crore, CPM’s Rs 3.899 crore, AITC’s Rs 1.30 crore and NCP’s liability by Rs 1 lakh.
As per reports, the CPI declared in both the years is Rs 6.28 lakh. BSP and NPP have declared nil amount as liabilities for FY 2020-21 and FY 2021-22. The report states that despite ICAI’s guidelines, political parties do not disclose the names of financial institutions, banks or agencies from where they have taken loans.
