BJP leader grabbed land worth six and a half crores from a farmer by giving fake cheque, Akhilesh fire questions

In Uttar Pradesh, a BJP leader has been accused of grabbing 10 bighas of land from a farmer. Hurt by the loss of this land, the farmer committed suicide, after which BJP is tightening its grip on leader Priyaranjan Diwakar. Babu Singh committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on September 9.

Whereas former Chief Minister of UP and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has attacked BJP. Akhilesh Yadav said that there is enough evidence that the bad intentions and fraud of BJP leader Dr. Priyaranjan led to the suicide of a farmer Babu Singh. Akhilesh Yadav directly questioned Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by posting on X (Twitter). Asked why Dr. Priyaranjan has not been arrested yet? Why do BJP people get special immunity in crime? Does a bulldozer have to obtain a special driving license to take action against BJP workers?

Earlier on Thursday, police conducted raids in Noida, Lucknow, Mainpuri, Prayagraj, Fatehpur to arrest the accused and interrogated more than 50 people. Police Commissioner R.K. “Those responsible will go to jail,” Swarnkar said.

In his suicide note addressed to Chief Minister Adityanath, Babu Singh, a resident of Chakeri, Kanpur, alleged that Ranjan grabbed his agricultural land by giving him a fake check of Rs 6.25 crore. Police said that the suicide note was found near the track.

Police have booked six people, including Priya Ranjan Diwakar, her nephew Jitendra, driver Bablu, Noida businessman Rahul Jain, Madhur Pandey and Shivam Singh Chauhan on charges of abetment of suicide and cheating on the complaint of the deceased’s wife.

Ranjan, former BJP candidate from Kishni assembly constituency of Mainpuri, had allegedly put pressure on Singh and offered to buy land from him. The farmer’s wife Bittan Devi, 45, alleged that succumbing to “pressure tactics”, Singh agreed to sell the property for Rs 6.25 crore after she was given a cheque.

In March 2023, when Babu Singh transferred the land through the registry, Ranjan asked for a check from him on the pretext of mistake. According to the FIR, they promised that Singh would get the check the next day, but he did not pay the money. Bittan Devi said Ranjan and others have started selling plots in Ahirvan village in suburban Kanpur.

JCP (Law and Order) Anand Prakash Tiwari said, “It has been confirmed that no money was given to the family in exchange for the land deal.”
