Bihar. A journalist Vimal Kumar was shot dead in Araria on Friday (August 18) morning. The assailants entered the house and shot journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav. The case is related to the testimony of the murder of the journalist’s brother.

In 2019, the journalist’s elder brother was also murdered. Trial is still going on in this matter. The testimony was to be held on 19 August.

The assailants who arrived on the bike entered the house and opened fire on Vimal Kumar. He died on the spot. After this, the miscreants fled from there threatening the people. Vimal Kumar, living in Prem Nagar of Raniganj, used to do journalism for Dainik Jagran. It is said that on Friday morning the attackers, who arrived on a bike, called Vimal Kumar out of the house on the pretext. As soon as he came out, the miscreants opened fire on him. Vimal has 15 year old son and 13 year old daughter.

Vimal Kumar’s brother was murdered in 2019. He was the only eyewitness in this case. The police is also looking at his murder from the same angle. The attackers had reached Vimal Kumar’s house around 5 am on Friday. As soon as the incident was known, the police reached the spot and sent the dead body to Araria Sadar Hospital for postmortem. Raids are being conducted in search of the attackers.

Pooja Devi, the wife of the deceased, told the police that some people were creating ruckus outside the house in the morning. They were also banging on the door loudly. When Vimal and he looked up, the assailants opened fire. It is said that Vimal Kumar was being prevented from testifying in the murder of his brother, despite the fact that he testified during the ongoing trial in the court.
