There is resentment among the people due to this action. It is alleged that the administration has not taken security measures here. Suddenly red marks are being placed on houses. In such a situation, people fear that the administration may demolish many other houses citing danger.

Danger increased in Nainital, 24 families left their homes

The danger of landslides in the surrounding area has increased after a two-storey building in Chartan Lodge area of Nainital was completely razed to the ground on Saturday. On Sunday, 24 families living in the landslide affected area for decades vacated their homes amidst grief and anger.

At the same time, the District Administration and Nainital Development Authority have also served notices to all these identified families and asked them to remove all their belongings from their homes within three days. There was an atmosphere of chaos in the area throughout the day. Ignoring nature’s warnings in Nainital is now taking a heavy toll on people.

On Saturday, a two-storey building collapsed due to a landslide in the Chartanlodge area. Due to which three other houses were also buried. SDM Pramod Kumar said that the administration, development authority and disaster management teams have conducted a survey in the area and have put red marks on sensitive houses and have given notices to the affected people.

Sandbags and tarpaulin support to prevent soil erosion

Tarpaulin was placed in the landslide affected area to prevent soil erosion. This will help prevent soil erosion when it rains. Also, temporary safety measures are being taken by placing sandbags on the houses whose foundation is being affected. But the administration is apprehensive of rain. If it rains, there will be a possibility of soil erosion here.
