Steelbird will expand capacity in Himachal, will launch Bluetooth helmet

A top company official said work is in progress at the 60-year-old Steelbird Hi-Tech India Limited. This includes increasing production capacity to 50,000 helmets per day at a cost of Rs 105 crore, exploring a new plant in Tamil Nadu, expanding its retail reach, launching a range of premium helmets including Bluetooth variants.
“We are investing Rs 105 crore in our Himachal Pradesh plant to increase production capacity. By next year, we will be making 50,000 helmets per day from the current 30,000,” Managing Director Rajeev Kapoor told IANS.
According to Kapoor, the company is also exploring the possibility of setting up a greenfield plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu in two phases. There will be an investment of Rs 100 crore in the first phase and Rs 150 crore in the second phase.
