At least 175 people have been killed, 1108 others injured and 32 missing since caste violence broke out in Manipur four months ago. Inspector General of Police (Operations) IK Muivah gave this information on Friday.
The official said 4,786 houses were set on fire and 386 religious structures were destroyed or vandalized.
IGP Muivah said that of the 386 religious structures destroyed or vandalized, 254 were churches and 132 temples.
The IGP told the media that out of the weapons that were “lost”, 1359 firearms and 15,050 different types of ammunition have been recovered.
Various reports, political parties claimed that more than 4,000 different types of sophisticated weapons and lakhs of different types of ammunition were looted from police stations and police posts by the mob, attackers and militants during the caste riots that broke out on May 3.

“Security barricades have been removed from Fougachao Ikhai in Bishnupur district to Kangwai in Churachandpur district, while security has been provided on national highways,” he said.
The police officer claimed that the latest action by the state force will please the public who wanted the security barricades to be removed and the internally displaced people allowed to return to their native places.
He said that since the outbreak of caste violence on May 3, 5,172 cases of arson have been reported and 4,786 houses have been set on fire.
Inspector General of Police (Administration) K. Jayanth said that of the 175 people who died, nine were still unidentified. He said, 79 bodies have been claimed while 96 bodies remain unclaimed.
Jayant said that 28 bodies have been kept at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, 26 bodies have been kept at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and 42 bodies have been kept at Churachandpur District Hospital.
He said 9,332 cases have been registered in connection with violence and law and order violations and 325 people have been arrested from across the state.
Inspector General of Police (Zone-3) Nishit Ujjwal said the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway (NH-2) and Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) were functioning normally.
Caste violence broke out between non-tribal Meiteis and tribal Kukis in the northeastern state after a ‘tribal solidarity march’ was organized in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
