Panic spread among parents after more than 15 private schools in Bengaluru received an email threat on Friday. However, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand called this threat a rumour. He said that there is no need for parents, students and teacher community to panic. “The threat turned out to be a rumor. The culprit will be caught soon.”
“We have sent bomb detection and disposal teams. Police have launched a search operation,” he said.
After this incident, tension prevailed in the school premises. This threat was given on the official email ID of the schools and it was revealed when the staff opened it in the morning.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the premises of a school in Bengaluru and received information about the development from the police department.
He said, “I saw the news on television and came to know that schools and institutions related to me had also received bomb threats. One of the schools was located close to my house. So, I came out to enquire.
Shivakumar said, “They showed the threatening mail. The investigation so far says it is a fake threat. We need to be careful. Parents are worried. Police are investigating.”
Schools located in Basaveshwaranagar, Yelahanka, Sadashivnagar have received bomb threats and most of them are reputed and international schools.
Many schools sent their children back as parents reached schools after learning about the incident. Last year, a miscreant had sent a fake bomb threat to 30 reputed schools of Bengaluru. The police had arrested a youth from Tamil Nadu in this connection.
